Haven't you just quite thoroughly torpedoed ppor Shari's prospects, though? How's she going to answer the stock interview question "Why do you want to work with us?" when she's aware the interviewer may already know, courtesy of what you've written here, that she's applied to hundreds of companies with what we used to call a "bombing run" and doesn't know any one of them from the rest?

Ian, I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that Shari is doing a "bombing run" in applying for jobs. Like most job seekers, she's looking for as many leads as possible and then applying for those that seem most appropriate. She'll be keeping track of the companies and doing research for each one she wants to apply to. No bombing runs and no applying to companies without having done her research. You're right. It would definitely not serve her well if she couldn't answer the question of why she wants to work at the company.
